Quality Solar Panel Installations that Last

If you gave a home cook and a professional chef the same ingredients, you would expect the professional check to create a better dish. Solar installation is very similar. Two solar panel companies can have the same materials, but the results can be drastically different based on the installation process. Here are the key features of our installation process that differs from our competitors:

Residential Home with Solar Panels on Roof

Why we are the #1 solar panel company

Working with 8M Solar was awesome. Extremely professional and squared away. They did not try to add gimmicks or unnecessary complications regarding financing to the solar project. The financing was easy to do and I good a great rate on my loan. They did an accurate assessment of my electricity needs with projections for future electricity requirements when I purchased an electric vehicle. Their projected kilowatt energy production of my solar panels was extremely accurate. My project was 13-panels, Tesla Power Wall and 240V EV charger. The quoted price was accurate from the start of the contract until completion. There were no hidden fees or financial surprises. Installation went great, it was done in a day and with the Duke Energy approvals I was up and running within a week after installation. Lastly, they provided a veterans discount which gave me one panel for free. Simply an excellent group to work with. 8M Solar rocks!
8MSolar was a 5 star pick for our solar installation. 1) Friendly and genuine, 2) they answered all of my questions, no matter how redundant or obvious, 3) they worked with me to design a system that was specific to our needs - not too much, not too little, 4) they walk through each step of the process with clear instructions on what to expect, what to fill out, when they were coming and how to prepare for the permits, inspections and more ,5) they handled all the paperwork work, forms, inspections, permits and etc. If there were any that I needed to submit, they provided the form and instructions on what to do, 6) install was quick and well done - and in 1 day, and 7) they followed up to make sure everything was to our expectation, tested and that we knew how to operating/monitor it. While they do not finance themselves, the credit union they work with was just as easy, reasonable rates and options to adjust 3x and no penalties to pay off early.
For years I have been watching the Solar panel market. Duke has a program and they work with established and approved companies like 8MSolar. From the first zoom call with Brett where we discussed the options with NO pressure or anyone requiring my husband to be sitting at the kitchen table with me. (Big bonus there) He answered all my questions, explained the process and from there, it went beautifully. Engineers developed the plan, all within the parameters of what was required by Duke, the county and our electrical needs. The plans were excellent and easy to understand. They let me know all the parameters of how much space I would need for my Tesla Power wall 3, they gave me the timelines, they filed all the paperwork. Once I was approved for the Duke rebate of 9K and the Tesla power pair program, (which puts money back into my bill each month), Everything was a go. They were very communicative and always took my calls and answered all my questions. Aaron, Ashan and Affan handled the project and hands on customer service. On the day before, they delivered all the equipment and let me know all the steps. The crew arrived an hour before and began setting up. Gavin who was in charge of the team, did a great job and they finished it the same day. I had the panels installed, a Telsa Powerwall 3 with its own inverter which allows your power to STAY in your home and not go to Duke, so you have all your power at night, (unless YOU choose to share which gives you money back). I also got a EV charger installed and all the circuitry required for everything to work (240Volts etc.) everything. It works seamlessly and the cost will be zero in 4ish years because of the rebates offered till the end of this year and the power sharing option I chose) Dukes rebate and the 30% federal tax credit. I installed an electric Hybrid water heater (which ROCKS) and that has eliminated my need of gas and except for my heating system I have zero reliance on Piedmont. I am working on that. The products they offer, are top of the line and you can pick from several configurations and brands. I cannot recommend this company highly enough!, they arranged everything from the Mecklenburg county inspectors, permits, made sure I had all my paperwork done for the rebates, The team sent me easy to understand instructions, and at the end of the day, as the end user, I have an app and a few buttons to press. There is still Duke money available for the rebate, and as long as you start the project this year I think you can still benefit from all the offers. If you have been holding off, call 8Msolar. It does take a few months all in. Best money I ever spent. 🙂
I am extremely happy with the level of service 8M Solar provided when installing solar panels and battery at my residence. The team is extremely professional. They were quick to give me a quote for the system, which was a very competitive and reasonable quote. They worked with me to address all questions and concerns I had. The installation process went through without a hitch. The project manager shared all relevant details ahead of time and he made sure that each of the teams working on the project were on time. I installation teams were polite and went about their business with great professionalism. The installation completed on time. I am still in the first week after the installation, but I have had a great experience so far. I definitely recommend 8M Solar for anyone looking to go solar
The entire team at 8MSolar has been great to work with for our solar install. A very smooth experience from sales to permit, to Duke incentive/application, HOA application, installation, and finally, a final follow-up inspection to ensure their client was familiar with the entire system and its process inside and out. The team is well-versed in their knowledge to help out their clients. I am very pleased to have received the referral from a friend about 8MSolar. Overall, very pleasant experience with the entire team. Will definitely recommend 8MSolar to friends and family and use them for my other properties.

Frequently asked QUESTIONS

The entire process of solar panel installation can take as little as a few weeks to several months to complete. This may seem like an extensive period of time, but don’t let that deter you from switching to solar panels. Our solar experts are here to make the installation as painless and efficient as possible for you.

Unlike other installers who are focused only on the sales process, we look at your exact monthly electricity usage (rather than the average) to determine precisely what size system you need and give you an accurate indication of savings.

Residential solar panel users can offset a massive 100,000 lbs of carbon dioxide in 20 years; the same amount produced by driving your car 100,000 miles!

One common question customers often have when installing a solar system is how long the panels will last. The good news is most high-quality solar panels can last 25–30 years with proper solar panel maintenance and installation.

At the end of that, solar panels don’t stop working completely; they will just no longer produce enough energy to meet your household’s energy needs.

Each year solar panels will degrade in productivity by a small amount, usually an average of 0.5%. Keeping up with regular maintenance is an important factor in ensuring your solar panels last as long as possible.

We offer solar panels from the best manufacturers in the business, including Silfab Solar, Panasonic, LG Solar, and more. The most common types of residential solar panels we use include:

Monocrystalline: A monocrystalline solar panel system uses pure silicon to absorb the sun’s energy. These high-end panels are incredibly effective, with sunny days yielding up to 20% energy efficiency, which refers to the amount of sunlight converted to energy rather than just warming the surface. Homeowners with smaller roofs typically choose monocrystalline panels.

Polycrystalline: Polycrystalline panels reach a slightly lower level of energy efficiency — around 15-17% — but they are more affordable. We tend to install polycrystalline panels on larger roofs where the slightly lower efficiency has minimal impact on the success of the system.

The costs of solar panel installation will vary by home because no two properties are the same and don’t use electricity the same way. If your home requires more electricity than the average home, you could need more panels to suit your needs.

Overall, we determine the cost of residential solar power by the size of your roof, the number of solar panels we need to use, and their type.

The majority of your solar panel expenses relate to the upfront costs of materials and installation. At 8MSolar, we offer high-end services that fit your budget.

If you need help meeting these upfront costs, we have several payment options available. We can also help you apply for a North Carolina Solar program meant to offset some of the costs around installing solar panels.

You may be concerned about the costs of buying and installing solar panels for your house, but don’t worry, we can make installing solar panels much more manageable for you.

At 8MSolar, we offer two main payment options for solar panels for houses which are shown in the diagram below.

Both options for home solar panels have their advantages, and the best option will depend on your individual circumstances. You may find it better to pay for the solar panels upfront, or prefer to spread the cost over a few monthly installments.

If you’re not sure which payment plan is best for you, our residential solar power experts can guide you. We will help you choose the best solar panels for your home and are here to support you throughout your solar power project.

Paying for your new solar system can be overwhelming, but local and federal tax incentives can help make the project more affordable. The current Federal Solar Tax Credit could save you 26% on the total cost of your solar project. On top of this credit, homeowners can save up to $6,000 with the Duke Energy Rebate Program, a North Carolina Solar Incentive for 2022.

There are two main technologies that convert the sun’s power into electricity.

Concentrating solar power (CSP) uses the sun’s energy to produce extremely large amounts of electricity. CSP works by using mirrors to focus sunlight and convert it into heat.

Photovoltaics (PV) are the panels you’ve probably seen on rooftops in your neighborhood. These panels convert the sun’s light into electricity when the sun is shining. The panel’s cells soak up photons from the sunlight and as a result, electricity flows. Our residential solar experts can work with you to install state-of-the-art  PV panels to power your home.

No, our warranty goes hand and hand with your existing warranty.

For most utilities, like Duke Energy, there is a bare minimum set monthly fee that you would need to pay. The rest of your bill would be covered by solar.

We custom design each system to cover your home’s specific electricity needs. Often we are able to cover all of your home’s electrical needs. If you are using a significant amount of power, then we may only be able to cover 75% to 85%.

Yes! We have long-term, low APR plans that will ensure a very low monthly payment (often lower than the current electric bill); and short term options like our 18 months $0 down with no payments.
