Job Overview

8MSolar is seeking an Assistant Commercial Project Manager to support our commercial projects from start to finish. This role is ideal for a motivated self-starter with experience in commercial solar installations who wants to grow their career in a dynamic, hands-on environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support commercial projects from point of sale to installation and commissioning
  • Serve as a primary point of contact between the client and 8MSolar
  • Manage workflows across multiple projects to ensure schedules are met
  • Create, update, and share project schedules with clients
  • Identify and assist in ordering inventory and materials
  • Review commercial construction drawings and provide recommendations
  • Supervise 8MSolar crews onsite
  • Verify site installation through onsite testing and commissioning
  • Ensure timely project closeout, including punch list completion

Qualifications

  • 4-year technical degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of solar experience (commercial preferred)
  • Valid NC driver’s license
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
  • Comfortable bending, climbing, squatting, reaching, and kneeling
  • Ability to read and understand electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams
  • Working knowledge of electrical theory, materials, and equipment
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools
  • Basic mathematical skills for project calculations
  • Willingness to work overtime when required

Training & Onboarding Plan

Week 1 – Training & Certifications:

  • OSHA-30 Certification
  • Forklift operation
  • SolarEdge, SMA
  • UNIRAC, Pegasus, IronRidge racking installation guidelines
  • Overview of commercial project management tools, schedules, and accounting (led by Shahzaib Khan)

Week 2 – Onsite & Office Training:

  • Onsite learning with senior site supervisor: mechanical & electrical installation
  • Permitting and interconnection process overview
  • Equipment ordering (forklifts, boom lifts, dumpsters, etc.)
  • Forklift operation practice

Weeks 3–4 – Onsite Experience:

  • Electrical installation and commissioning
  • Site evaluations
  • Continued forklift operation

Week 5 – Project Management Practice:

  • Manage a complete installation with senior PM guidance
  • Attend inspections and client walkthroughs

Week 6 & Beyond – Full Responsibility:

  • Manage projects from contract signing to closeout
  • Maintain client communications and ensure milestone adherence
  • Oversee billing and follow-up on payments
  • Ensure material availability and crew readiness
  • Supervise full installation and commissioning
  • Attend all inspections and final walkthroughs
